VOTE TO FISH

The upcoming federal election represents the most important    election in Australias history for anglers

Most anglers have little time for the ranting and raving within our political system. And who could blame them. The anglers world is the natural world of aquatic ecosystems and the great outdoors.

A far cry from the often farcical, plastic world that is politics.

Most anglers treasure their pastime and as a result are true conservationists of the marine environment. However, the looming federal election hides a threat to all anglers and will prove a pivotal point in the history of recreational fishing in Australia.

For this reason, it is most important that anglers take far more care in voting than ever before!

The Greens have played their hand and stated that they intend to turn an absolute minimum of 30% of Australian Commonwealth waters into marine parks. This is on top of extensive existing and proposed state-based marine parks. Considering that marine parks are revised every 5-10 years and more or larger Sanctuary Zones are created each revision, then it is feasible that within a short period of time we could be banned from fishing virtually all of our favourite areas if The Greens secure the balance of power in the Australian Senate.

It is important that anglers are aware that The Australian Labor Party has prostituted itself to The Greens by agreeing to a preference deal with them. As we know The Greens are hell bent on locking Australians out of marine and terrestrial areas and virtually banning the many outdoor pastimes that make us Australian!

In essence, this only leaves The Shooters and Fishers Party, The Liberal Party, The Nationals and The Australian Fishing and Lifestyle Party (QLD only) that represent the interests of anglers.

Any vote for The Australian Labor Party or any party offering preferences to The Greens, will effectivley put your treasured pastime of fishing, at  a serious and definate risk!

"Unlike Labor, the recreational fishing sector and its many millions of participants can be assured they will be listened to by a Coalition Government.

"We will not place bans on fishing without very strong reason and, even then, not before genuine consultation.

"The Coalition will give recreational fishing the respect and recognition it fully deserves as a contributor to the environment, to healthy lifestyles and to the nation's economy."

Australia has a large number of people who enjoy recreational fishing.  To be heard, those voices must become one.  United we can become a powerful force.

For too long we have been the Government's scapegoat with more and more barriers being placed on the recreational sector while commercial practices continue to plunder our waters.  Our impact is minimal and sustainable with recreational fishing pouring billions into the Australian economy.

Your support in fighting for the right to be able to fish for Mako sharks in the future is greatly appreciated ,as ALL FISHER people must unite to save our Mako
fishing other wise Tuna ,Marlin or even Snapper could be next !!!!

If this law gets introduced it will have a major impact not only on the retail fishing tackle shops stand to lose millions ,but also the recreational angler as it will loose a magnificent sports fish and table fish.
